Dexys Midnight Runners are often thought of as being one hit wonders. Everyone knows the party classic Come On Eileen but to a lot of people, that’s all there is to Dexys. The reality is that they had a run of classic 45s – Geno, Plan B, Show Me, Jackie Wilson Said, Because Of You – and two of their albums regularly make the all-time best Top 100 UK albums.

Now, a Glasgow-based band, Dexys Bootleg Runners, are bringing a live show featuring the big hits as well as the Dexys debut LP ‘Searching For The Young Soul Rebels’ played live from start to finish.

Dexys were always a large band with never less than eight members on stage. The instruments ranged from organ, fiddle, banjo to a full 3-piece horn section. The size and scale of Dexys music would be enough to put of most bands who would try to play it. Not the ‘Bootlegs’. Never fewer than 9 pro-musicians on stage, these guys have nailed the Dexys sound. They are proud that they are the only Dexys tribute band, in the world!

No less than head Dexy Kevin Rowland (a man not easily pleased) has said of the band “I’m flattered”. Original Dexy, and co-writer of most of the songs, Big Jim Paterson, loves the band so much that he joined them on stage at their recent London sell-out gig at The 100 Club.

Band manager and musical director Gavin Paterson said “We are all Dexys fans in this band. We would not be doing this if we didn’t believe in it. We have a show that will appeal to the Dexys hardcore fans as well as to the more casual listener. I would ask anyone who likes good music to check us out. We are coming all the way from Glasgow and we will give you a night out that you won’t forget. See you at the gig”.
